FAQs about my daycare
You asked , I answered
♢ What is quiet time?
Each afternoon after the children have had lunch, we will have quiet time! Any child under the age of 5 will use quiet time, in this time the child will lay down and try to rest! We do a lot of activities throughout the day and resting ensures that they will be ready for the next activity we have planned. During the summer when we have school kids at daycare full time, this time will be used to read a book that they liked to bring, I ask that they read for 45 minutes. Then after that time I will allow T.V. time. After the children wake up from quiet time, I will allow T.V. time and provide their afternoon snack, before we begin other activities.
♢What kind of field trips do you go on?
During the summer, we will enjoy the weather outside! Instead of staying home and watching T.V. although we do like to have those relaxing days as well. We will often go to places around town, such as the park, the library, or just on a walk, we have a small kiddy pool that some days the kiddos will get to use as well! During pool days if your child is not potty trained, I do ask that you provide your child with swimmers, I will provide sunscreen for the kiddos. Any big field trips will be planned out and thought of well in advance! Any and all field trips the parents will know about well in advance!
♢ I'm not sure if my child should attend today, should they?
The child may not attend if they have vomited, ran a fever, have pink eye, have lice, or any other contagious illnesses in the past 24 hours. They must be any symptom listed above free for 24 hours. With being in a contained environment, it is easy for germs to spread! I try to sanitize things as much as possible but please keep sick kids at home, this ensures that other kids and myself don't get exposed to these germs! I don't take many days off but however if my child or myself get any of these symptoms I will have to close daycare for that day. If your child gets sick while being at daycare, I will ask that you pick up your child. If you have any questions on if your child should stay home, please don't hesitate to ask!
♢ What will you do if there is ever an Emergency?
I ask that you provide me with everything to be known about the child medically, that way if there were to ever be an emergency, there would be quick contact and knowledge of background. Medical background information for the child will be kept in a secure folder that only I would have access to!
♢Can my child bring personal belongings?
I do not mind that the children bring personal belongings such as small blankets, stuffed animals, a book, their favorite toy, pillows, I do ask that the children do NOT bring hazardous toys, things that could be choked on as little ones love to put things in their mouths, I would like us all to be safe! I don't mind if they want to leave items here to play with, I ask that they take whatever they bring, home on the weekends, because I like to do a deep clean of the house on the weekends. I can't guarantee that these items will not get misplaced or broken.
♢What will my child be eating at your daycare?
For "breakfast" we will have a range of breakfast items. Every breakfast will be served with fruit & main course with milk or juice. Some of our breakfast items may include, pancakes, eggs, tator tots, sausage, bacon, toast, cereal, pop tarts, ect.
For "lunch" we will have a range of lunch items. Every lunch will be served with a fruit, veggie, and main course, with milk or juice. Some of our lunch items may include, pizza, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, grilled cheese, ect.
For "snack" time we will have something small for the kids to snack on whether it be crackers with cheese, goldfish, pretzels, yogurt, side of fruit, ect. At snack time the kids will get water with their snack to keep them hydrated throughout the day!
♢Can I come see my child?
Yes, of course!! I do ask that you text first because it can get loud at times if the kids are playing or if we are learning, I also will have the door locked during daycare hours, I ask that parents avoid pickup or coming to see their child during quiet time hours, that way it don't disrupt other kiddos.
♢What do you do for discipline?
For discipline at my daycare, the kids will simply go in time out. Time out to me would be the child standing in the corner, or sitting on the time out chair, depending on what they have done. When a child goes into time out, the child will remain in time out for 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes, I will get down to the child's level and talk with them about what they did and why we don't do that, and an apology and a hug following.
♢What will my child be learning?
I will work with the children during "morning circle time" and teach them days of the week, the weather for that day, months of the year, and more!!
During "learning activities" I will teach them the letters of the alphabet, counting and numbers, animals and the sounds they make, story time, and more!!
During "music and movement" for the first 10-15 minutes we will begin with exercises to loosen up the kids body, then I will put on music for the kids to dance around and boogie to!!
I will work with the children during "arts and crafts" the kids will use this time to do the craft we are doing that day, or coloring pages, play dough, or anything I have planned for that day! This will help with the children's motor skills.
During "free play" the kiddos will use their imagination and play with toys.
♢How will we communicate?
Good communication between a caregiver and a parent is very important because it allows us to work together as a team for your child's needs! Parents can text me anytime! I will use a group chat through messages to send things we do throughout the day, as well as important reminders! At drop off and pick up times I ask that you spare 5 minutes for me to tell you how your child's day went and what we did, and if there is anything needed to bring for your child.
♢ Why am I being charged a fee?
Late pickup will result in a $20.00 fee due to it being after my business hours and it starting to cut into my family time. Late payments will result in a $50.00 fee, I expect to be paid on time just like you would from your employer.
